Contouring is a makeup technique used to enhance the natural structure of your face by creating the illusion of shadows and highlights. With the right products and application techniques, contouring can help you achieve a more defined and sculpted look. In this blog post, we’ll guide you through the steps of contouring your face.

Step 1: Prep your skin

Before starting with contouring, it's important to prepare your skin. Start by cleansing your face and applying moisturizer. This will help to create a smooth and even surface for the makeup application. Wait for a few minutes before moving to the next step.

Step 2: Choose your products

The key to successful contouring is using the right products. You will need a contour powder or cream, a highlighting powder or cream, and a blush. For the contour shade, choose a color that is about two shades darker than your skin tone. For the highlight, choose a color that is one or two shades lighter than your skin tone. The blush shade should complement your skin tone and add a natural flush.

Step 3: Map out your face

To begin contouring, you need to map out your face. This means identifying the areas of your face that you want to define or enhance. Generally, you'll want to contour under your cheekbones, along your hairline, down the sides of your nose, and under your jawline. To find your cheekbones, suck in your cheeks and apply the contour shade to the hollows that appear. Use a light hand and blend well.

Step 4: Highlight

Once you’ve contoured your face, it’s time to highlight. Use the highlighting shade to add brightness to the high points of your face, such as your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, your cupid's bow, and the center of your forehead. Apply the highlighter in small amounts and blend well.

Step 5: Apply blush

After contouring and highlighting, it’s time to apply blush. Smile and apply the blush to the apples of your cheeks. Blend well for a natural look.

Step 6: Finish with setting spray

Finally, finish your contouring look with a setting spray. This will help to keep your makeup in place throughout the day.

In conclusion, contouring can be a great way to enhance your natural features and create a more defined and sculpted look. By following these simple steps and using the right products, you can achieve a flawless contour every time.

I’ve always enjoyed putting on makeup. However my way is the very basic way, foundation, the very minimal eyeshadow, eyeliner (never leave home without it), blusher and lipstick.

However, I’ve been watching some awesome videos on fb on some of the techniques that make up artist used and I find it so fascinating. I mean a plain jane can, in a span of an hour or so, turned to a glamorous diva.

So I’ve been experimenting as well.. not in the excessive dramatic way but in the basic application of make up .. like using primer first before anything else, applying foundation using the beauty blender or brush (have not determine which one I like better), using concealer and using a technique the MUA used called “baking”.

Conclusion? I must say this… My make up last much longer than it normally would and I still look fresh even after being out in the sun all day. So.. thumbs up for the tips.

Here’s some more tips that I would I’d share here.. The different makeup brushes.. err.. I’m still figuring them out. lol!
